SlovSEFF is a sustainable energy financing facility developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Its latest extension, co-funded by the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment of Spain, provides a credit line of up to €40 million to Slovak commercial banks. Incentive payments are funded from the proceeds of the sale of carbon credits from the Slovak Republic to Spain, facilitated by the EBRD.

 CARBON MARKET BACKGROUND

SlovSEFF III is the EBRD's first credit line that is funded by a market-based mechanism. The proceeds from the sale of carbon credits from the Slovak Republic to Spain are allocated to achieve additional greenhouse gas emission reductions through investments under SlovSEFF.
